Hey guys! Sorry for the delayed response in writing...
Thanks to everybody that came out. I hope you had a great time. I feel like a lousy host as I spent the whole night in the garage with Shawn Bergerson (aka ANGER MANAGEMENT) and Joel Mohr (aka QUIK N DIRTY) and his side kick Eric. Not that those guys were poor company, but I was looking forward to sitting around drinking some beer and bench racing with everybody. If it wasn't for the work of these guys, I'd never had made it to the race on Sunday. I owe BOTH these guys some serious "faivres!" The wife reported somewhere in the neighborhood of 80-100 people showed up at the house. Everyone we talked to seemed to LOVE her Carne Asada! Muchas Gracias to my wife Christine and our friend Misty for making this all happen!
Lance, she's going to be sending you a package. Be on the look out for it!
For those that don't know, that 2 liter engine we were thrashin' on, was an 18 year project that FINALLY came to fruition. Most of you may recall my posts over the years about never having any money as a school teacher, so my new sales gig finally paid off! I was able to buy the rest of the parts I needed and finish the dang thing! Although, our resident supertuner Joel believes there is a clogged idle jet on the #1 cylinder, the thing pulls like a freight train! My tranny is believed to be stock, so I babied it off the line. My best pass of the day was a 14.5 @ 94 MPH. I AM VERY PLEASED!

I want to also that Joel for coming back over and helping me tune the car on Saturday, which unfortunately lead to snapped clutch hooks, bad throttle cables, etc, etc. This car fought us the whole way! Thanks a million Joel!
It was quite a high that I ended the weekend with... and then Monday came. My daughter Dominique went to the doc to recheck her wierd blister on her hand. It winds up being a nasty staff infection and they admitted her to the hospital. She was hooked up to an antibiotic IV drip all day. Yesterday evening the hand surgeon opened her up as the infection had gone down to the ligament. He flushed it and she's been soaking it and purging it all day (open wound now.) She's a tough kid, and has a great attitude, but we're waiting for the doc to show up and re-evaluate her to see if we can take her home. If not she'll be here a few more days. This is some seriously scarey crap here!
It's amazing the swing of emotions I've been through in the past 48 hours. One thing I know is that VW guys are the best guys you can have on your side! Thanks for all the nice texts, and emails guys, I've shared them with Christine. You guys rock!
