A friend of mine from Orange County (Southern California for our international members) just scored a 1947 Split Window!  He sent me a few pictures of it, but I noticed that the "W" decklid had a "home plate" (a baseball reference) stamping in it down below in the lower portion of the decklid.  I've never seen a decklid like that before.  It was pretty neat! Shocked

What years did the splits have those stampings in them?

(I'll have to see if I can post a picture of it tonight.)

Sorry it took an additional day, but this is what I was referring to.  See that "Home Plate" stamping in the W decklid?

Scott,
That raised area was found on decklids up until the 1949 model year. It's shaped very unusually, almost to where you might think is has improperly corrected damage.

Thanks Wilson!

I'm sure if a convertible version (with the "home plate" stamping) is available, that the cost would be double that of a post 49 W decklid.  That would make a decklid like the one above (in a convertible version) sell for $4000.00 USD.  That is insane!

I think I'll never realize my dream of being a split owner on my teacher's salary.  I'm not going to give up hope of owning a totally stock oval though!
