Hi guys!

I am mounting my Vw Bug 1962 to drag race, and I would like to know what you recommend in terms of the gears ratio for my case.

The engine will be a 1835cc, engle VZ25, webers, methanol with nitromethane.

The track on which I run is 1 / 8 of mile.

Thanks,

In order to help, I need a few more details. What max rpm do you expect to turn with your heads and that cam? Will your valve springs support that rpm? How heavy is the car?

If you are using a T1 gearbox, pretty standard is to build around the relatively stronger 3.88 ring and pinion and super beetle main shaft. 3.11 1st and 2.31 second is common. If you have more money and can afford it, an FTC or Phoenix mainshaft set would be the way to go, you would have a better selection. You can do the math and figure out the rpm drop so you can choose 3rd and 4th gears.
