Okay, here's the latest details that Bill and I ironed out today (4/1/07)...

The following was submitted to Hot VWs magazine a month ago...

Quote
OCT 4    Dyno Session In The Desert, Silver State Motorsports (located at LVMS), Las Vegas, NV. Racers test and tune for the Vegas air on a Dynojet 2248C chassis dyno prior to the Las Vegas Bugorama. For the hot street cars, let's remove the OC correction factor and show some real numbers on the dyno! Put up or shut up ‹ this one will be a shoot-out! 25-30 slots are available, with 8 by invitation only, the others are first come first served basis. "Street" cars will be running a morning competition for some way cool, one-off trophies and dontated prizes! A non-refundable payment of $50 covers your entrance fee and reserves your spot. Contact Scott (702) 845-1021 for reservation info. There will be plenty of room for spectators, and ton of fun for all with prizes, food, and fun! This event is being joint organized by Scott Faivre of <www.German-Pride.com> and Bill Tsagrinos of <www.vegasvolks.com>.

Remember the the afternoon session will be an exhibition.  It is not a contest.  We are looking for the those racers to be able to use the session as an opportunity to test their tune up against the thinner air and elevation of Las Vegas.  Knowing that their engine is acclimated to the Vegas environment, they can be sure that they'll get a leg up on the competition! Wink

For the morning session, we're going to put 26 Hot Street Cars on the Dyno.  This session is all about the numbers!  Bring your street car out, put it on the dyno and let's see who's on top when the dust clears!  Who's going to be the new Sheriff in Town?  These guys are spinning the rollers for a chance to win some great prizes and take home the hardware!

We will have some really cool, "one off" trophies for the following categories:
Highest Horsepower Overall
Highest Torque Overall

First, Second & Third Place Horsepower - Normally Aspirated
First, Second & Third Place Horsepower - Forced Induction

First, Second & Third Place Torque - Normally Aspirated
First, Second & Third Place Torque - Forced Induction

We are keeping the rules as simple as we can.  It's basically an unlimited type set up.  All engines must be 4 cylinder aircooled VW motors.  Street Cars must run a muffler, have proof of registration and insurance, as well as working headlights, tail lights, and turn signals.

We are now looking for sponsors for the event.  If you are interested in sponsoring the event, please contact Scott Faivre @ 702-452-5969.

Stay Tuned...  Wink

For those that have asked about the registration form, I need you to hang on just a little bit longer.  I've got a form created in word, but I don't have it set up with editable fields.  As soon as I can get that squared out, I'll get it posted.

Other updates include, I have submitted a sponsorship proposal to Castrol and Anheiser-Busch.  It took 2 nights of work for each sponsorship proposal.  I'm hoping they like it!  The sponsorship proposals are not only for the Dyno Session in the Desert, but also for items throughout the weekend.  I even asked for contingency money for the racers on Sunday.  No promisses, I'm just throwing out some lines and fishing for a title sponsor.  Keep your fingers crossed!  Wink

In addition, I've been quite busy scrambling for some paperwork for my job.  I need transcripts for all the classes I've taken from the numerous universities, so that I can move up the pay scale.  Wink  Life of a school teacher... taking cheap credits where you can!  Roll Eyes

Thanks!

REGISTRATION FORM IS UP!!!

While it's not the prettiest thing I've ever created, I wanted to make this something that we could all use.  The form is created in MS Word.  You can open the file, fill it in and then email it back to us.  If you don't have MS Word and would like a fax copy of the form, please email or PM me through the forum.

Here's how it works:
1.)  Register on German-Pride.com and log in.
2.)  Download the file below
3.)  Edit the form
4.)  Save the file as your name (example: "John Doe.doc")
5.)  Email the file to admin@german-pride.com

We only have 13 spots in each class.  Be sure to get your registrations in quickly!  Once we have received your application, we will contact you about collecting your fee for the dyno.  Time is of the essence.   Grin

Take care,

Thursday at 4PM I make my first pitch to a Casino, to see if I can secure a title sponsor.  Wish me luck! Wink

Scott Faivre

Update:  The appointment went fairly well yesterday.  The man I met with was a "car guy" so that definitely helped.  He was totally up front with me when he said, "I'll have to meet with the GM, and see what he has to say.  Being that this is the first year for this, we don't have any numbers to provide to him.  I'm not sure how he will look at that."

It went as well as it could, I just need to hang out and wait until after next Thursday when he meets with the GM to discuss our event.  Keep your fingers crossed.  Smiley

We've gotten our first, "No."  The casino that I met with will not be sponsoring the event.  They stated that they will be willing to throw a few comps into our prize pool, but since this is the first year of the event they didn't want to take a chance on a low turnout.  Not the answer that we were looking for, but at least we've got something to start with.  I'm down to my final 9 days of school left, then I'm really going to get aggressive in finding more sponsors.  Grin

Let's keep our fingers crossed on the Beer and Oil sponsors.  I know they are a long shot, but it's worth a try! Wink

I've done a bit of organizing and updating of the Dyno Session website!  You can view our list of current sponsors there and see the progress we're making.  There is MORE PRIZE money to come!  Whatever we have left from our advertising efforts to promote the event, T shirts, dash plaques, flyers, etc. we will be throwing into the pot!

Just so you know, we've hired Lemorris Harris to do the design for our shirt!  His work is awesome!  Check it out at www.lemorris.com

With almost all of the payments in, I am pleased to announce that the...
Dyno Session in the Desert will have $2200 in cash and prizes
                                                                      ...for our contestants!  Grin

We have up'ed the top pay outs for the Top Horsepower and Torque earners as well as added 2nd and 3rd place HP earners in both the Naturally Aspirated and Forced Induction Classes!

If the car with the top HP also has the top TQ numbers, the payout to that car COULD be:
Naturally Aspirated - $650
Forced Induction - $1050

Take a look at the Official Dyno Session in the Desert webpage for more details...

You've most likely seen the AWESOME job that Lemorris Harris did on our T-shirt design.  The guy's work is simply amazing!  We went in a new direction and took a step out of the ordinary with a cartoony type look to the event.  With the Old West or Wild West motif that I set up originally for the event with the "Wanted Poster" for the Great 8, Lemorris did a great job incorporating all those aspects into the piece.  Since the event is a new event and something fresh, we tried to do the same with the shirt design.  Lemorris does check out our site from time to time, and I'm sure he'd love to hear your feedback.  So post them up here and don't just PM or email like you guys always do.  Grin  Thanks for the feedback!

I'm expecting my quotes back from the printer today or tomorrow and I will let everyone know the costs for the shirts.  I already have members from as far away as France asking about how & when they can purchase them!

They will be sold at the event, throughout the weekend and online here on German-Pride.com.  Stay tuned about the rest of the details...

See you in less than 30 days! Grin

Tomorrow I will post the discount on here with whatever code to mention while reserving your rooms.
