With my side jobs quickly coming toward a close,  I'm planning my convertible progress in my head.  I've already added dropped spindles and disc brakes to the front end, and the rear spring plates need to be readjusted.  The previous owner really screwed it up.  He adjusted them too far down and then used chrome coil over adjustable shocks to make up for the previous work he screwed up.  I have yet to pull the spring plate retaining covers, so I don't know if he even indexed them.  I hope so!

I need to readjust them and then I want to add disc brakes to the rear.  I run Porsche Fuchs on my car and so I need the Porsche bolt pattern.  CIP1.com, CB Performance, So Cal Imports, and many more offer disc brake conversion kits.  But they all look the same.  Is there any 1 company that stands out?  Which kit is the best? AND Why?

Are the calipers bigger?  Rotors larger?  Etc.

THANKS!

I was just looking at Airkewlds website and they have BAD brakes. Thats what they are called. They would look sick for a street car. I even think they come porsche pattern also. Its worth a look IMO.

I have seen them.  I've got nothing against AirKewld's products, but it's a little too much "bling" for me.  I'm more of a semi-Cal-Look kind of guy.  Kind of plain and understated.  Stock body with a killer motor and some custom wheels.

That being said, I'm starting to think about stepping out of my comfort zone and going with a semi-German-Look on the convertible.  I was wondering if it were possible to fit Porsche brakes on to our swing axle cars and maybe upgrade the front link pin ghia brakes to Porsche as well.  I was thinking of possibly using 17-18" Porsche Cup Wheels with an all stock body.

What do you think?  Has anybody done anything like this?  Are there kits?

I run CB's wide 5 disc kit front and rear and it works like a champ.  Lemme tell ya, the thought of never having to adjust brakes again makes me very happy.   Grin

Holy Crap!  Where has the time gone?  It's now 3 years later, a career change, and 2 companies later, plus a new son, and I FINALLY bought a new disc brake kit for the convertible! Grin

With my new job, I now have Fresno, California in my sales territory.  Farmersville, home of CB Performance, is located south of Fresno near some smaller towns that I visit while calling on the doctors in that area.  This first trip out there, I was able to score a disc brake kit for my long axle transmission and it has rotors with a porsche pattern.  I can't wait to get started on installing the kit, but it won't be this weekend.  My daughter has another softball tournament! Wink

On a side note...  CB Performance is kicking out some killer new products with their electronic ignition billet distributors, and their EFI set ups!  You've got to check out their MagnaSpark set ups!  It is too cool!
